WHO: VUSD students who are currently in 9th-12th grade. Wear a shirt to represent your school. We will take a group picture before we start, and it would be great to have school shirts present.

WHAT: Free pinball tournament! All skill levels welcome, there will be a crash course before we start just in case anyone is brand new. Most probably will be.

WHEN: Saturday May 11th. Check-in at 12:00-12:30, practice 12:30-1:00, rounds start at 1. You must register to play. Waitlist players will be added at 12:31.

WHERE: Hotrods off Houghton.

WHY: Pinball is fun. It’s also a whole big box of STEM that you can play. There won’t be any lectures (promise) but you might learn something new. If you’ve played before, great. If you’ve never played before, great. Come on out, you are better than you think.

HOW: Email wayne@tucsonpinball.com, message Tucson Pinball on Facebook or Instagram. I will need your first and last name, your school, and your grade. Names will be listed above like this: Wayne S., Northridge, Jr. If we somehow get enough players to have a waitlist, it will also be posted. 2 spots will be reserved for each school, until April 26th. After that the roster will be filled by the next names on the list.

FORMAT: Don’t worry if none of this makes sense. We will do a group match play (that just means groups of up to 4 players on each game) 7/5/3/1 scoring for 8 rounds. After round 8, the standings will be set and the trophies will be handed out.

PRIZES: Yes. Trophies for 1st-4th and an additional trophy for 1st to be given to the school of the tournament winner. There might be more for random prizes.

Expectations: Only play your turn, don’t talk to or about players while they are playing. Respect the people and the machines. That’s it. Talking is fine, just be respectful of the players. If a player has a good ball or good game, it’s perfectly fine to say “nice ball” or “nice game” when they are finished playing. If you play out of turn you will get a zero on that game, so please just make sure you play at the correct time.
